π Unlocking Contacts
Unlocking is how you go from knowing who someone is to being able to reach them. It is the one action in Compass that spends credits.
What a locked contact shows
Before you unlock, a profile already tells you a lot, for free:
- Who the person is and their role.
- Where they have worked, in their career timeline.
- How they connect to others, in the Network graph.
- Their public X handle and follower reach where known.
What stays hidden are the private channels you need to start a direct conversation.
What an unlock reveals
Unlocking reveals the verified channels Compass holds for that person, which may include:
- Telegram handle, the channel Compass prioritizes, since it is where most crypto teams actually talk.
- Email address.
- LinkedIn profile.
- X (Twitter) handle.
Not every person has every channel. Telegram comes first because it is the one that gets a reply in crypto.
What it costs
- Each unlock costs 10 credits, on every plan.
- Once you unlock a contact, it stays yours forever, including after your plan ends.
- You are never charged twice for the same person. Unlock once, keep them in your vault.
Your plan decides how many credits you get each month. See How Credits Work and Plans & Pricing.
How to unlock
- Open a person's profile from People, a project, or the Network.
- Read their timeline and warm-path card first, so you know your angle before you spend.
- Choose Unlock. The verified channels appear and are saved to your unlocked vault.
- Reach out directly, or export the contact to your own tools.
Why we lock contacts at all
The work in Compass is verification: confirming that a channel is real and current, and tying it to the right person. Credits are how that work is priced. You browse the whole graph for free and spend only on the people you actually decide to reach.
